The Kelp Forest at California Science Center

September 12, 2016

The California Science Center is unique for its kelp forest tanks which visitors will find in Ecosystems Hall. This giant forest is majestic - kelp grows as large as trees. It's especially interesting to visitors of Southern California because these ecosystems just off the coast of the state's pristine beaches support life for over 800 species, such as leopard sharks, giant sea bass, and spiny lobsters. At CSC, you'll learn why kelp is found in some places and not others, as well as how choices you make each day affect this ecosystem. Another great exhibit at the CSC is Deep Sea Vents. You can explore the deepest, least known areas of the ocean floor - places so deep sunlight can even reach it. And there's one more exciting fact about CSC: admission is free!
