No Tricks, Just Cinematic Treats

October 01, 2018

Nobody does movies like Hollywood, and this month the City is offering up some fabulous flicks at a variety of venues – we have listed some of our favorites here. First, don’t miss the Fashion Shorts and a viewing of “The Eyes of Laura Mars” at Cinema at The Getty on October 18. Included are shorts featuring work by Helmut Newton, Sarah Moon, and some uber-rare films by Dadaist Erwin Blumenfeld. Don’t pass up a visit to the Rooftop Cinema Club – it’s one of the City’s finest outdoor film venues. With its fabulous film selections, comfy chairs, wireless headsets, snacks, adult libations, and an impressive city view, this is truly a cineaste’s paradise. October’s lineup includes the hilarious “Waiting for Guffman,” Luc Besson’s Lolita-lite film, “Léon: The Professional,” John Water’s cult classic, “Cry-Baby,” the 35th anniversary of “Valley Girl,” and Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece “A Clockwork Orange,” along with many other movies through October 31. Lastly, kick back in a cozy oceanside seat for Films, Food, Drinks, and Fun at Santa Monica Pier’s Front Porch Cinema, featuring screenings of “Grease,” “Clueless,” “The Addams Family,” and “Coco” during October.
