Hollywood's Tribute to Theater and the Arts

March 04, 2019

Hollywood just celebrated its largest event of the year: the Oscars. Step backstage to honor the arts with LA’s best museum collections. The largest museum in the western U.S. sits right in the heart of West Hollywood. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art houses pieces from some of the most renowned artists of modern times—think Rembrandt, Cezanne, Ansel Adams—plus plenty of ancient sculptures and pieces from Greece, Rome, Egypt and beyond. But the anticipation has been building recently as a new collection adjacent to LACMA comes to life. Scheduled to open this year, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ (also known as the people behind the Oscars) collection will be on display at the Academy Museum of Motion Picture. The four floors will house Director Picks, including the iPhone, used to shoot the 2015 film Tangerine; a journey through the Making Of The Wizard of Oz; Transcending Boundaries—an exhibition that allows attendees to interact directly with the medium and so much more!
