October 01, 2017 We may be half a world away from Bavaria here on the west coast, but you wouldn’t know it at Southern California’s oldest Oktoberfest, which runs from now all the way through October 28 at Alpine Village in Torrence, just a short drive from our West Hollywood hotel. In this little slice of SoCal turned SoDeutsch, you’ll find festive parties every weekend. Revelers 21 and over will want to head down after 5 P.M. on Fridays or 6 P.M. on Saturdays, while those searching for family fun will find what they’re looking for on Sundays. Against the backdrop of live polka and bellowing oom-pah-pah bands, you’ll enjoy a wide range of beers, including Konig Ludwig Oktoberfest, Warsteiner Pilsner, and Warsteiner Oktoberfest. And of course, the food is also authentically German, with sauerkraut, sausage, bratwurst, bratkartoffeln (potatoes), and much more. So grab your stein (or pick one up at the festival), and head on down for one of the world’s most popular cultural and culinary celebrations.
